A Game During the Feast Day

Last October 7, 2011 was Nicole's Feast Day at school. Aside from dancing Baa Baa Black Sheep, Nicole played this game with her classmates where she had to keep a ball in between her legs as she jumped. A lot were laughing when it was Nicole's turn, as she was really slow and jumped small steps, but she didn't drop the ball. For us, she was great. :)

She's just in Kindergarten and she turned four on the first month of school, making her the youngest in her class. :) The video and the dance may not be as spectacular to others, but it's wonderful for us.

Nicole is excited for tomorrow's day at school. She and the rest of her class will be dancing, but when I ask her what song she's dancing to, she says she doesn't know, lol. :)

I'm excited that she's up to dancing in front of a lot of people and that she isn't shy. I sometimes feel like she's too young for school, but she's surprisingly doing very well. I wonder what tomorrow will be like for us.

Henry and I picked up both kids from school after their intrams were over. I didn't get to see Nicole cheer and play games, but when I picked her up she was really tired but happy and excited about how her day went. While we were waiting for her sister Keisha, I picked up this flower which was growing from a plant in their campus, and placed it on Nicole's ear. She asked me to take a picture of her, and requested I add it to her Facebook account, lol.

I am Back!

OK, I was really shocked to find out that the last time I had updated my daughter's blog was back in Christmas. Obviously, I am not doing a very good job at this, lol! But things will be a lot different now as I vow to make regular updates.

For starters, Nicole will be starting Kindergarten this school year. She and Keisha are enrolled in the Holy Spirit Academy of Malolos and her school schedule is from 12 noon up to 2:30PM, kinda long for a preschooler in my opinion.

Nicole also finished her summer class a few weeks back, it was 2 weeks of classes, preparing her for the school year ahead. She never cried nor winced, and acted like a completely big girl. I guess I always thought of her as a baby because seeing the things she could already do on her own (put things in her bag, eat by herself, socialize with the teacher and other kids, etc.) really made me very proud.

Daddy's out to buy Nicole this shampoo. I don't think it's a no tear formula, so I guess I'll find out when he gets home. Nicole has been using Johnson's Baby Shampoo for the longest time, and she's quite excited to try out a new brand. When I had the chance to smell this shampoo, it really does smell great. Hopefully Nicole will like it.

Shrek in 3D

Nicole's first 3D movie is Shrek Forever After last May 30, and I could say is that she really needs to watch more movies on the big screen so she can get used to it. Even though I was right beside her and holding her tight, she still cried when the lights went out or when Rumpelstiltskin had his evil face on.

I also had a hard time making Nicole wear her 3D glasses during the movie, and I think she misplaced it three times, sending me and Henry into a searching fit in the dark as we would end up paying a hefty fee for those glasses.

But overall, I would say her first movie was a success because she was very happy whenever Shrek and Gingy was on screen, especially since when we ate at McDonald's and her Happy Meal toy was Gingy himself.

After the Jonas Brothers, my kids are now big fans of Big Time Rush and can't wait for it to be shown on Nick. They've been repeatedly playing this song over and over and over again on Youtube, and it's driving me nuts! Hahaha!

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 is Nicole's new favorite movie. She has been watching the DVD on a daily basis, alternate with Spongebob Squarepants.

Nicole even screams and giggles whenever the Chipmunks are singing and dancing, which makes the movie all the more fun to watch.

Planet 51

Henry bought a DVD of Planet 51, and all of us watched it in the kid's room where the DVD player is. Unfortunately, the kids slept halfway through it, lol!

From what I've watched, I think it's pretty OK, and the concept of us humans being the aliens was great. Too bad that the kids fell asleep when the astronaut landed on Planet 51, and I had to turn the TV off so that they wouldn't wake up from the noise. I guess I'll have to write about this at another time when Keisha and Nicole get to finish it.

Our Weekend at Active Fun

We all had a great time playing with the kids, especially since the playground was really big, just right for adults with a kid's heart, too!

Lots of Fun at Active Fun

Last Saturday was the first time we took the kids to Active Fun at SM North EDSA, or at any Active Fun branch at that matter. I have to say I love it! Even though it is more expensive compared to the other playgrounds we've been to, it's well worth it. There are lots of things kids can do in the playground, and the place is BIG. There were a lot of kids there, but you couldn't feel it because the playground was big.

Nicole was scared of the slides, but her dad managed to capture a video of her on the slide. I am not sure how he managed to convince her to slide down because I was unsuccessful in doing so.

As soon as I get the chance, I will be uploading pics of the kids in Active Fun, and Nicole's video on the slide.

On Becoming Toilet Trained

I am so proud of Nicole as for the last two days, twice a day, she takes off her undies or sometimes her diapers by herself and pulls me to the restroom so she can poop in the toilet bowl. For a two year old, I am so amazed that she can already do it. I don't recall Keisha being toilet trained that early.

What I need to do now is to start training her to tell me when she needs to pee. She tells me occasionally that she needs to pee, but sometimes slips are unavoidable and she ends up peeing wherever she is before she even tells me.

In any case, kudos to Nicole for always pooping where she's supposed to!

I am having such a great time right now watching how excited Nicole is with all the stuffed toys that her grandma is washing. Most of my old stuffed toys and Keisha's toys were dirty already, and now that they're being washed and dried in the dryer, they all look so pretty. Even though the toys are still wet, Nicole won't stop embracing and hugging them, which pretty much means that we've also been changing her clothes a lot.

My mom in law and I went to the St. Luke's Medical Extension Clinic early today for her medical exam. Nicole woke up in the wee hours of the morning despite our best efforts to keep as quiet as possible. She ended up crying and crying when we were about to leave.

I wanted to cry as well, because I couldn't help thinking about her and Keisha. Although I knew that their dad would take care of them to the best of his abilities, I guess I just wanted to be there, too.

We surprised Daddy on Father's Day by buying him a cake and cooking him his favorite meal - pork with mushroom sauce. We didn't greet him the whole day, and he probably got the impression that we forgot about the entire day. But when he came home, we turned all the lights in the house off, and we hid behind chairs and when he walked through the door, we all jumped out from where we were hiding and yelled "Surprise!" Boy, was Daddy pleasantly surprised!

I am currently blogging for the music blogs I work for, and I am just waiting for a web page to load. While doing so, I happened to look at Nicole who was watching TV. I am so amazed because she's really big now. How time flies...she's a big girl already. I recall when she was still a helpless little baby who needed help just to get on her other side but now, she's big!

I guess I'm just amazed and overwhelmed at the same time.

I just love it when Nicole is asleep for three reasons.

1. I can work peacefully and quietly on the computer without her pounding on the keyboard.

Nicole is all better since yesterday, and I am really glad. Her fever was really high a couple of days back, but she still remained her jolly and active self. We found it funny how she could still eat so much and be as active as ever even though she had a really high fever.

She still has a cough, but it's very minimal now. I'm glad she's doing well, although Keisha's the one who has a fever now.

Nicole has a slight fever since last night. Since she's a really active baby, she still moves around and eats as though there's nothing bothering her. But as any parent would, I am still worried for her even though she looks fine on the outside but hot to the touch.

I think it was last Thursday when Nicole stopped having a fever. I'm glad she's better, but she still has a light cough. We're still giving her medicines for her cough, but she's already back to her normal, jolly self. I'm glad that she and Keisha are all better.

Nicole has the Flu

Nicole has a really high fever that started yesterday. Earlier this morning, her fever was at 40 degrees and she vomited after we gaver her her medicine. She hasn't been her usual jolly self, and cries a lot and wants to be carried all the time. I know it's because she's not feeling well which is why she's acting like that. She also has cough and colds which makes it harder for her to breathe, especially when laying down. I am really hoping that she gets well soon because I hate seeing her like this.

A Really Active Baby

Nicole is growing up to be a really active baby. She's literally a handful! She moves really fast and is pretty strong and even if she's chubby because of all her baby fat, she can lift herself up to climb the stairs or sit all by herself in one of our chairs.

A good thing is. she's still very charming and sweet. Just when you're about to get mad at her, she'll give you a heart-warming smile or plant a kiss on your cheek and then embrace you with all her might. And when she sees you're smiling again, she'll be back to wrecking the house in no time.

When Henry came back from his Ilocos trip, we dined out at Jollibee as a treat for the kids. We also ended up buying Nicole her own Jollibee doll dressed in the Philippine national costume since she was pointing and crying at it. Nicole has been sad since yesterday. Both her grandma and I think it's because she misses her dad who's off to another field trip and won't be back until March 3. Nicole has been a walking conflict. She can be her really charming self, smiling and kissing and embracing you with her earnest eyes, and then throwing stuff everywhere, pressing on the computer's keyboard while you're doing something, and throwing the phone off the hook and on the floor.

Right now I just finished putting her to sleep for her afternoon nap. Today was a tiring day for her. as she went with her grandmother and dad to Western Union. I guess she was tired and hungry since she finished a whole bottle and a half of milk.
